Where to watch
Any long, straight street in downtown on the grid works: 4th Avenue, 5th Avenue, 3rd Avenue, Spring Street, Seneca Street, Madison Street. West-southwest at sunset and east-northeast at sunrise. The farther you can see down it, the better.
Get there 20 minutes early, stay on the sidewalk, and look for a clear horizon at the street’s end. Will Seattle’s sky be clear?
